Season of Change

Yesterday, was a long day of cold wind, cloudy skies, and rain. I looked at an oak tree, and was disappointed to find no evidence of life. The Lord reminded me of the virtue in patience, by saying: “Be still”.

Today, I looked at the same oak tree. But this time, I walked under a cloudless sky. The sun had warmed the earth, and a gentle breeze had blown away all signs of the winter season. It was surely the same tree, but my perspective had changed.

This morning, I looked past the dead leaves and barren limbs. I gazed up, at the tallest branches which reach to toward Heaven. It was there I found tiny buds on each branch, and the promise of new life beginning.

There is a song I remember from my youth: “What a difference a day makes”. And the words of that song are true, just as God’s Word from yesterday are true: “Be still and know that I am God.”

Take hope, my friend. God is not finished!

Blessings, Donna
