When I was a little girl, my favorite story was “The Little Red Hen”.
And I must confess, I spent most of my life acting out the part of that independent hen. It’s very difficult for me to delegate authority. And asking for help goes against my very nature. Like that little hen in the story, I always want to say: “I’ll do it myself!” But lately, the Lord has taken great lengths to show me this attitude is based on pride.
Now that I am getting older, I still want to tell the world, “I’ll do it.” But it’s time for the next generation to have their turn. So, I bow to the Lord’s direction and admit the ultimate truth…”I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.”(Philippines 4:13) But…When he asks me to accept this season of weakness, I should remember: “he said to me, ‘my grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weakness, so that Christ’s power may rest upon me.” (2 Corinthians 12:9)
