She called me “Nana”!

Back in 1994, I attended the wedding of our third, and youngest, son. It was on that day, I realized the meaning of the term “empty nest”. My heart ached over the fact that my children were grown and moving on to make their own lives. But, as always, God had a plan!

A few months later, I was praying and asking the Lord what he intended me to do with the rest of my life. I wept, waiting for the answer, and finally fell asleep. The Lord did answer my request by giving me a dream.

When I woke, I was crying again, but this time my tears were filled with joy. To say I was happy, would be an understatement. I found it impossible to just sit there. I had to tell someone! So, I drove to the local store, where my son was working. Now, I’m sure he must have thought I had lost my mind. Because, I ran up to him and almost shouted, “You’re going to have a baby girl!”

Don’t you love it when the Lord gives you something so precious, you simply can’t contain yourself from shouting out the news? Unfortunately, my son was not amused. He simply blushed, and said, “Ah, Mom, I’m working.” Of course, that didn’t stop me from telling him the story… “I had a dream. And I saw a beautiful baby girl. She was just a toddler, but she had a head full of curls. She was following me down a road, and calling me, Nana!”

Well today, I can tell you, the Lord kept his promise. My son did have a beautiful little girl. In fact, I was blessed with five precious grand-daughters, and three handsome grandsons. I am equally blessed each time they call me, “Nana”.

God has a plan for each life. And I can tell you, He keeps his promises. “Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.(Psalms 37:4)
