Today’s message is dedicate to my dear family. Yesterday, I spoke to my cousin over the phone. She has spent this past week caring for her mother; waiting for her to pass from this life.
For those of us who knew Betty Jean Spears, we remember someone who was quick to laugh. She dearly loved family, but never shared the dedication we all found with our grandmother. I believe she inherited her father’s love of adventure.
So,now, our dear Betty is ready for the greatest adventure of all. She is standing at the threshold of eternity; anxiously awaiting a reunion with those who have gone on before her. I say this with assurance, because through all her faults, Betty Jean loved the Lord.
We all know how difficult it is to say, “Good bye”. I remember when our beloved grandmother passed from this life. Betty sat by her bed all night. She refused to give up, desperately clinging to the hope that her mother would wake from the coma. Of course, our Nanny was more than ready to go. And though we loved her, we wanted her to find that promise of eternal peace.
So, now, it’s time to watch one more family member step into eternity. I’m thankful that her children were given strength and peace to say their “good byes”. I hope they will remember the Word they heard in church:”We are confident,I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” (2 Corinthians 5:8)
I pray we may all find peace in these words. Rest in Peace, Aunt Betty. We will see you in Heaven.
Be Blessed, Donna
